Where There’s a “Will,” There’s a Way

Pittsburgh, PA, May 2007 – Will Cross climbed Lhotse at over 8,200 meters on May 21, 2007 as he continued to quench his desire to climb the seven highest peaks in the world. Cross is a participant in the Giant Mountain Challenge, and this is the fourth year he has climbed the Mount Everest base camp at 17,500 feet. Will hosted the first ever high-altitude bakery while at base camp, which was hugely successful with trekkers and climbers alike.

Two of Will’s companions during this journey were climber Nawang Sherpa, and his father who met up with Will at base camp for moral support. Both Will Cross and his father were diagnosed with Type I diabetes. Will has managed to control diabetes and remain extremely active by using Novolog insulin pump.

The expert climber was forced to turn around at 8,200 meters due to unstable snow conditions.
